Be kind and help others get outside too
Whether it’s lending a helping hand to someone or being considerate to others while you’re out and about. Here are some ideas on how to get outside and be kind to others.
1. Take someone out for the day
Spending time with someone outside can do wonders for their mental and physical wellbeing. Why not show a friend or family member your favourite place or one you visited as a child?
2. Go Geocaching
Location-based games are great fun and a good way of getting young and old of the house for some fresh air. Deemed the largest global treasure hunt, Geocaching is one of the most popular outdoor gaming apps and it’s free.

We asked cyclists and walkers about Geocaching in the first in our series of outdoor game reviews.
3. Surprise someone special with a picnic
Extend your summer staycation by dining al fresco. This can be as simple as taking your morning coffee and pastry outside or as extravagant as filling a cool box with your favourite dishes. Read our handy guide on how to have the perfect picnic and try baking one of our favourite British picnic recipes.

4. Organise a game at the park
From manhunt and hopscotch to boules and rounders, everyone has a favourite outdoor game. Rally up your friends and family for fun in your local park or green space.
5. Do a good deed
Lend a hand to your neighbour by helping them with their gardening, painting a fence or carrying groceries back from the shop. These good deeds will provide a healthy dose of fresh air, plenty of satisfaction and help build lasting relationships.
Everybody needs good neighbours
Growing your own veg is a great project to help you and your neighbours spend more time outside. If you’re lacking outdoor space, choose veggies that can be planted in pots, like tomatos and chilis.
6. Treat someone with an outdoor gift
Help someone get outside by treating them to gift they can enjoy outdoors. A flask for their morning walk, a pair of cosy new walking socks or a custom-made map of their local area, there’s gear to make everyone’s outdoor time more enjoyable.
“Your best memories aren’t always about where you are or what you are doing. Sometimes it’s more about who shared that moment with you.”
