UKactive exists to improve the health of the nation by getting more people, more active, more often. Join the nation on Wednesday 22 September for National Fitness Day which sees a huge range of activity options enjoyed by participants of all ages, such as ‘plank offs’, yoga and pilates classes, treadmill challenges, high-street HIIT classes, dance-offs, mass walks, virtual workouts and many more.
Natural England are the government’s adviser for the natural environment in England. They help ensure that England’s natural environment, including its land, flora and fauna, freshwater and marine environments, geology and soils, are protected and improved. Natural England also help people enjoy, understand and access the natural environment.
We’ve partnered with Sense to help you discover tried and tested sensory walks across England. Sensory walks allow you to use your senses to connect with your surroundings whilst you stay active. Sense have uploaded a new series sensory walks to OS Maps to help you enjoy the great outdoors this National GetOutside Day!
The Outdoor Guide (TOG) is a free online resource set up by Julia Bradbury and sister Gina that aims to bring together information for walks all around the UK. They believe passionately in the value of enjoying a healthy life outdoors and aims to support those without the ability or opportunity to access and share the benefit of our great outdoors.
You’re invited to join Eco Monkey and The Wellderness this National GetOutside day. Set in a beautiful ancient woodland near Angmering, West Sussex, the family-friendly day will be spent around the campfire. There will be wilderness survival and campfire cooking for the children and some nature therapy / forest bathing for the adults all rounded off with a spectacular fire performance. Find out more.

Join Youth Adventure Trust in the GetOutside Scavenger Hunt! Take a walk in nature and try to find natural objects starting with each of the letters of GetOutside. A great way to explore & you’ll be amazed at what you can find!
If you’re doing this with someone else, set the challenge of finding different things for the same letter. Or if you want a longer challenge, try completing your name too. Join a beach clean on National GetOutside Day! The Beachwatch programme is the only year round beach litter survey in the UK. As well as cleaning up our coastline, Beachwatch volunteers note down all the items they find in a 100m stretch of beach. This data is hugely important as it helps them track litter back to source, and enables them to campaign for change.
Walk the Test Way with The Rotary Club of Romsey Test on Sunday 26 September and raise valuable money for charity. This is a great challenge to get you outside! The Rotary Club of Romsey Test support charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally.

National Trails are long distance walking, cycling and horse riding routes through the best landscapes in England and Wales. In Scotland the equivalent trails are called Scotland’s Great Trails. They are special – they have been designated by the Government and are managed to a set of Quality Standards that set them above other routes.
