Meet Gus Mckechnie
Tell us a bit about yourself and how you like to get outside?
I have cerebral palsy and active movement is important to me staying mobile. I like outdoor walks and I enjoy running with a community running club in Southampton called the Hamwic Harriers. Hamwic is the saxon name for Southampton. I enjoy Parkrun and where possible like to try some Parkrun tourism.
I also row with a local rowing club Coalporters and play wheel chair rugby. I like that my activities allow me to enjoy the green areas of the city and the water. I believe in the power of getting outside benefitting mental health as well as physical.

I grew up with Maiden Castle outside of Dorchester Dorset out the back of my house.
When I get the chance to go back I like to do this route as it takes me past old haunts and to Maiden Castle.

What’s your fave bit of kit available on the OS Shop?
